Violent clash in Tava’i leaves two dead, four injured

A violent confrontation in Tava’i, Caazapá department, left two people dead and four others seriously injured on Saturday evening. The shootout occurred around 6:30 PM on a public street in the San Roque neighborhood, near the town's main roundabout.

According to local police reports, the violence erupted when two armed individuals on a motorcycle approached a group of people who were drinking alcohol beside a car. The assailants opened fire on the group, but the victims retaliated, leading to an intense exchange of gunfire. One of the deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Justo Pastor Bogado Ortigoza. The second fatality is one of the suspected attackers, whose identity remains unconfirmed.

The four injured individuals, identified as Julio César Sanabria Torales (35), Marcos González Acosta (38), Julián Vega Ríos (48), and Aureliano González Acosta (39), were transported to the San Juan Nepomuceno District Hospital. Following the shooting, a second suspect involved in the attack managed to escape on the motorcycle used in the incident. National Police have deployed forces in the area in an attempt to locate him. Investigators have collected shell casings from the scene, which has been cordoned off for evidence preservation.
