VMG Energy to Install 15 MW Battery Storage Park in Klaipėda District

VMG Energy is set to install a 15 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) in the Klaipėda district, a move aimed at bolstering the competitiveness of industrial areas. The system's primary function in its initial phase will be to participate in electricity system balancing markets.

According to the company, the BESS will store electricity during periods of surplus and supply it back to the grid when demand increases or power shortages occur. This capability is crucial for participating in frequency regulation and reserve markets, where energy storage solutions help maintain real-time grid balance.

Diana Gedminčė, head of VMG Energy's real estate department, highlighted the growing importance of energy readiness for industrial zones. "Energy storage solutions are becoming an essential part of modern industrial infrastructure."

Currently, VMG Industrial Park can provide up to 60 MW of electricity capacity to investors, with plans to expand these capabilities in the future. The new BESS represents a significant step in meeting these expansion goals and ensuring a stable energy future for the region.
