Warmer weather expected across Kazakhstan, but not everywhere, Thursday

Temperatures will climb as high as 30-31°C in parts of southern and western Kazakhstan on Thursday, but the country will not have uniform weather.

Astana is forecast to remain dry, with temperatures of 5-7°C overnight and 20-22°C during the day. Almaty will have light rain and thunderstorms during the day, with temperatures reaching 21-23°C.

Shymkent and Turkestan are expected to reach 28-30°C. Both cities may experience northeast winds of 8-13 meters per second, with gusts of up to 15-20 meters per second. Atyrau will be clear and could reach 29-31°C, while Aktau and Uralsk are forecast to reach 28-30°C.

Kyzylorda will remain dry but could see a dust storm during the day. Temperatures there are expected to reach 26-28°C. Karaganda will be cooler, with a daytime range of 18-20°C, while Kokshetau and Petropavlovsk will reach 19-21°C. Fog is expected overnight and Thursday morning in Pavlodar and Ust-Kamenogorsk. Semey will be the coldest listed city overnight, at 0-2°C, with daytime temperatures of 16-18°C.
