Wasteful Mount Pleasant Lose 2-1 to Cibao in Caribbean Cup Opener

Mount Pleasant Football Academy began their Concacaf Caribbean Cup title defense with a disappointing 2-1 loss to Cibao FC of the Dominican Republic at the National Stadium in Kingston. The Jamaican side dominated possession and created several clear scoring chances throughout the first half but failed to convert, leaving them trailing 1-0 at halftime.

Key opportunities were missed by Nicholas Nelson, who had two significant chances, and new signing Trayvon Reid, who also pulled a shot wide. Daniel Green also saw his effort blocked. Despite the offensive struggles, Mount Pleasant found an equalizer in the 69th minute through substitute Nickalia Fuller, who struck from 25 yards.

However, Cibao FC responded decisively. Diego Ledesma had opened the scoring for the visitors just before halftime with a shot from outside the area. The decisive blow came in the 80th minute when Mariano Nichele powered home a rebound after a defender blocked an initial attempt, securing the victory for the Dominican side.
