Weather Forecast: Severe Storms and Heat Stress Expected in Berlin and Brandenburg

Residents of Berlin and Brandenburg are advised to prepare for a sweltering Tuesday as temperatures are forecast to climb, potentially reaching 36 degrees Celsius in some areas. The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued warnings for localized severe weather, including heavy rain, strong gusts, and hail, which may accompany the heat.

The DWD highlighted that the heat load will be particularly intense, with Brandenburg expected to experience higher temperatures than Berlin. Cottbus in southeastern Brandenburg is predicted to be the hottest spot, reaching 36 degrees Celsius. Other areas like Lindenberg anticipate a high of 33 degrees, Potsdam 32 degrees, and Berlin's airports and Tempelhof also expecting 32 degrees. Angermünde and Berlin Dahlem are forecast to reach 31 degrees, while Neuruppin will see temperatures around 30 degrees.

The strong heat is expected to persist into Wednesday, with highs between 31 and 35 degrees Celsius, and the possibility of more showers and thunderstorms. The DWD indicated that severe weather could occur in isolated instances. A slight cooling is anticipated by Thursday, with maximum temperatures dropping to between 27 and 31 degrees Celsius, although scattered showers may continue. Overnight lows throughout the week are expected to range between 17 and 21 degrees Celsius, with continued chances of showers and thunderstorms in some areas.
