Weather: Temperatures to drop after heat – weekend brings cooling

Germany is set to experience a significant drop in temperatures over the weekend, offering relief after a recent spell of hot weather. The German Weather Service (DWD) forecasts that Friday will still see high temperatures, ranging from 31 to 34 degrees Celsius, with predominantly sunny and dry conditions.

However, the weather will begin to change overnight into Saturday. Clouds are expected to move in from the North Sea, and fog may form in some areas. Inland low temperatures will be between 13 and 17 degrees Celsius, while coastal islands could reach up to 19 degrees. Saturday itself will be characterized by changeable weather, featuring both clear skies and cloudy spells. Isolated showers are possible during the day, with thunderstorms potentially occurring in Mecklenburg during the evening.

Maximum temperatures on Saturday will range from 22 degrees Celsius on the islands and coast to 28-33 degrees in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Overnight into Sunday, rain is possible in some areas, and temperatures will drop further to 10-14 degrees Celsius. The coast and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are expected to remain slightly milder. Sunday will continue the cooling trend, with maximum temperatures between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius. The day will be partly cloudy with occasional clear spells, and apart from isolated showers, it is expected to remain mostly dry, although initial showers and thunderstorms are still possible in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
