West Java Governor proposes raising parental income limit for KIP scholarship

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has proposed an increase to the parental income threshold for students receiving the Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP) scholarship. This initiative aims to ensure that eligible students do not have to discontinue their higher education due to exceeding a narrowly defined income bracket.

Mulyadi put forth his suggestion to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. The governor believes that the current income limits may inadvertently exclude students from families who, while earning slightly more, still struggle to afford university tuition and living expenses.

By adjusting the income ceiling, the governor hopes to provide a crucial lifeline to more students, enabling them to complete their studies and contribute to the nation's development. The proposal reflects a concern for accessibility in higher education and a desire to support students from various socioeconomic backgrounds.
