Wheelchair-bound beggar arrested for smashing car window with stick in Malaysia

A man in a wheelchair was arrested by police in Sungai Petani, Malaysia, after allegedly smashing a car window with a stick. The incident occurred at a traffic light intersection on Jalan Sekerat around 10 a.m. The car's owner, who wished to be identified only as Lim, reported the incident to the police due to fear and trauma.

Although the car window did not break, we are still traumatized and scared.

Lim, 38, was traveling with his parents and daughter when the car stopped at the traffic light. He stated that a man in a wheelchair approached vehicles, seemingly begging for money. When Lim's father gestured to decline, the beggar allegedly used abusive language before striking the car window multiple times with a stick.

Although the window did not break, the occupants were shaken. Lim shared the incident on Facebook, warning others to be cautious. Fortunately, a driver behind them captured the act on their dashcam, providing evidence.

The suspect, who is 42 years old, has 13 previous records related to drugs and is not a holder of a disabled person's card (OKU).

Kuala Muda District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan confirmed the arrest of the 42-year-old suspect. He noted that the man has 13 prior drug-related offenses and is not registered as a person with disabilities (OKU). The suspect is currently in remand and is being investigated under Sections 427 and 506 of the Penal Code for mischief and criminal intimidation.
