Three more arrested in KL over illegal highway race

Malaysian police have apprehended three additional men in Kuala Lumpur as part of their investigation into an illegal street race and road closure incident on the Linkedua Expressway. The arrests are a continuation of efforts following the detention of eight local men, aged between 26 and 45, including a prominent motorcycling influencer, who were initially arrested in Johor.

The incident, which occurred on a Saturday morning, involved individuals deliberately obstructing highway traffic to allow two motorcyclists to engage in an illegal race. Video footage that circulated on social media showed groups of people blocking the road and igniting firecrackers to celebrate the end of the race. The race reportedly took place between Kilometer 33 (Senai Toll Exit) and Kilometer 31 (Johor Premium Outlet Exit).

Authorities are pursuing the case under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which addresses dangerous or reckless driving. The three individuals arrested in Kuala Lumpur are being brought to the Kulai Court to seek a remand order. Police have stated that the investigation into the incident is still active and ongoing as they seek to gather further evidence and ensure all involved parties are held accountable for their actions.
