Widodo, Ma'ruf Amin Attend Annual MPR Session; SBY Absent for Health Check-up

Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin were among the dignitaries present at the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) held at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta. Widodo arrived shortly before 8 a.m. and was seated next to Amin. They were flanked by former Vice Presidents Boediono and Jusuf Kalla, all three wearing traditional black caps.

Widodo was seen conversing with Boediono. Notably absent was former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who could not attend due to a medical examination in the United States, according to a spokesperson for the Democratic Party. The Annual Session was scheduled to commence at 8:30 a.m. with President Prabowo Subianto set to deliver a state address and a report on the performance of state institutions.

The event, which also includes a joint session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD), is a significant annual gathering for the Indonesian government. The presence of multiple former and current leaders underscores the continuity and tradition of these state functions.
