Wiebes dominates again to win second Tour de France Femmes stage

Lorena Wiebes demonstrated her dominance in the Tour de France Femmes by securing her second consecutive stage victory. The Dutch sprinter proved unmatched in the mass sprint that concluded the second stage in Geneva, Switzerland, mirroring her performance on the opening day.

Wiebes, riding for SD Worx, not only claimed the stage win but also maintained her hold on the yellow jersey. The victory was hard-fought, with Lidl-Trek's Riejanne Markus attempting a breakaway that was only reeled in less than a kilometer from the finish line. Strong work from former world champion Lotte Kopecky was instrumental in catching Markus, setting the stage for Wiebes's decisive sprint.

Elisa Balsamo of Lidl-Trek and Marianne Vos of Visma secured the second and third positions, respectively. Danish participant Amalie Dideriksen, who had hoped for a strong showing on this stage, was not among the frontrunners when the sprint began. The Tour de France Femmes now moves from Switzerland to France, with the next stage finishing in Poligny.
