Wildberries logistics hub in Russia's Samara region gutted by fire

A major Wildberries logistics center in the Samara region of Russia has been completely destroyed by a fire, leaving only the administrative building intact. The blaze engulfed 160,000 square meters of the 180,000 square meter facility located in Novosemeikino, with all goods inside lost, according to Denis Gurkov, acting minister of industry and trade for the Russian Federation.

This incident is part of a series of attacks targeting Wildberries facilities. Since July 18, Ukrainian drones have reportedly struck Wildberries sites in multiple locations, including Elektrostal, Kotovsk, Krasnodar, and Simferopol. In response to these attacks, Wildberries has begun seeking warehouse space in Kazakhstan and has prohibited employees from bringing mobile phones into warehouses since August 3. The company stated that filming during air alarms could reveal Russian air defense positions, violating legal regulations.

Ukrainian authorities justify these attacks by stating that the Wildberries platform supplies dual-use products, including electronics and navigation equipment, which are used in the production of drones for the Russian army. Russian business publication Forbes estimates that Wildberries lost approximately 22.2% of its total warehouse space in July due to these drone attacks, with damaged facilities amounting to at least 893,000 square meters.
