Willem II 2-1 OFI: Cretans lose third friendly

OFI suffered a 2-1 defeat against Willem II in their third pre-season friendly, held at the Koning Stadium in the Netherlands. The Greek team struggled to find their footing early on, conceding two goals within the first 13 minutes.

Willem II opened the scoring in the 7th minute through Haen, who capitalized on a defensive lapse to beat goalkeeper Christogeorgos. The Dutch side doubled their lead in the 13th minute with a powerful shot from Gurbuz that deflected off the post before entering the net. OFI protested for a penalty in the 35th minute after a handball claim, but the referee did not award a spot-kick.

In the second half, OFI improved their performance and created more chances. Kostoulas threatened with a header in the 53rd minute, and Didillion-Hodl made a difficult save from a Nuss free-kick in the 56th minute. The team continued to press, with Theodosoulakis and Fountas missing opportunities in the 66th minute. Finally, in the 89th minute, Kostoulas managed to pull one back with a header from an Aitor free-kick, marking Aitor's first unofficial assist for OFI.
