WNBA Game Interrupted by Sex Toy Toss, Second Incident in Two Days

A regular season WNBA game between the Chicago Sky and the Golden State Valkyries was halted Friday due to a fan throwing sex toys onto the court. This marks the second such incident in as many days. The Sky ultimately won the game 73-70 in Chicago.

The disruption occurred during the third quarter at the Wintrust Arena. The WNBA is increasing its collaboration with law enforcement to curb these events, which have become a recurring issue. Last season saw six similar incidents.

Chicago Sky player Natasha Cloud expressed her frustration, stating, "This says more about the internal problems of this person, than about anything of a collective group. For the men who throw (these sex toys), this also says that you are very weak and says a lot about what you think of women. But we are not interested."

The previous day, a fan was arrested for a similar act during a game between the Los Angeles Sparks and Atlanta Dream. During that game, play stopped when a sex toy was thrown onto the court as Sparks player Jihyun Park stood at the free-throw line. Social media images showed the perpetrator fleeing, but league sources confirmed his arrest to The Athletic. The WNBA aims to hold those responsible accountable.
