Woman arrested for killing husband in Mathura; daughter, her lover also involved

Authorities in Mathura, India, have arrested a woman, Naina Soni, for allegedly murdering her husband, Manoj Soni. Police report that Naina Soni conspired with their minor daughter and the daughter's boyfriend, Vimal Chaudhary, a delivery boy, to kill Manoj Soni because he disapproved of his daughter's relationship.

According to police statements, the alleged murder occurred on April 18. Naina Soni reportedly gave her husband milk mixed with a sedative. After he fell asleep, she and the daughter allegedly struck him with an iron pestle. The daughter and Vimal Chaudhary then allegedly wrapped the body in a blanket, transported it on a scooter to a forest near Akrur village along the Yamuna River, and burned the remains.

Investigators are facing challenges in recovering the body due to the rising water levels of the Yamuna River, which may have washed away evidence. However, police have recovered a scooter, a blanket, and evidence of burnt clothing and documents near the house, suggesting an attempt to destroy evidence. Currently, the case is being treated as an abduction with intent to murder, but charges will be updated if sufficient evidence, including the body, is found.

Manoj Soni had reportedly been missing since a quarrel at his home on April 18. His brother filed a missing person report on July 11 after Manoj, his wife, and daughter had suddenly disappeared. The investigation revealed that Manoj had opposed his daughter's relationship with Vimal Chaudhary and had allegedly assaulted his wife and daughter over the matter. The police are continuing to search the forest area for the victim's remains and other evidence.
