Woman killed in Ciudad Juárez after alleging harassment in viral video

A 31-year-old woman was fatally shot outside a convenience store in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, on Wednesday night, just hours after a video of her alleging harassment went viral on social media. The victim, identified as Zaira Alejandra B. R., was attacked as she left an Oxxo store at the intersection of Artículo 31 and Vicente Guerrero avenues.

In the widely shared video, the woman expressed fear of retaliation from individuals she claimed were harassing her. She stated, "I don't want to be another statistic, I know she could do any kind of harm to me, I know it because she already did it to me." She explicitly held those harassing her responsible if anything happened to her, referencing a past violent assault.

Authorities from the State Attorney General's Office in Ciudad Juárez are actively investigating the homicide to determine the motives behind the killing. The incident occurred amidst a troubling surge in violence, with six homicides, including two women, reported in the state on Wednesday alone. A total of 32 people have been murdered in July in the region.
