Women's Festival Empowers Cilegon Community with Creativity and Economic Growth

Cilegon City Square buzzed with activity on July 30, 2026, as the Gebyar Bakti Wanita Nusantara event unfolded under the theme 'United in Togetherness, Empowered in Karya.' Thousands of residents attended the event, organized by the Cilegon City Women's Organization Association (GOW), which served as a platform for women's groups to display their creativity and potential.

The festival featured a wide array of activities, including aerobics, cultural performances, a fashion show using recycled materials, children's art workshops, talk shows, and an exhibition and bazaar for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM). The vibrant atmosphere and strong community participation highlighted the event's success in fostering economic activity and showcasing local products.

Irna Narlita, Chair of the Banten Province Women's Organization Cooperation Body (BKOW), lauded the initiative, stating, "I really appreciate and give the highest regard to activities that involve and empower women." She also noted the impressive talent displayed by the younger generation and suggested such events should be held regularly due to their tangible impact on the community.

The event not only celebrated women's achievements but also provided a crucial space for developing their potential, highlighting youth talents, and promoting Cilegon's creative products and UMKM. The involvement of UMKM was particularly noted for stimulating economic circulation and increasing the visibility of local goods. "Here, UMKM are involved and money circulates. Great works can be seen and noticed by the public and tourists," said one organizer, emphasizing the boost to local businesses.

Officials encouraged continued collaboration among women's organizations to create empowerment activities tailored to their members' needs and potential. The sentiment was that empowering women, even at the smallest community levels, directly contributes to the economic growth of villages, sub-districts, and the city as a whole. The Deputy Mayor of Cilegon also expressed his appreciation for the successful collaboration that made the event possible.
