Woori Future Foundation supports elementary students with 'hearty breakfast' in Gangwon, following Incheon

The Woori Future Foundation is broadening its support for elementary school students facing breakfast insecurity by launching a program in Gangwon Province. This expansion follows the foundation's recent initiative to provide morning meals for students in Incheon. The 'Our Child's Hearty Breakfast' program, a collaborative effort with the Gangwon Provincial Office of Education and World Vision, aims to ensure that children who come to school without eating receive a nutritious meal.

The initiative will initially serve 175 students across 11 elementary schools in eight regions of Gangwon, including Jeongseon, Cheorwon, and Pyeongchang. Recognizing the unique circumstances of rural areas, the program will tailor its operations. For instance, at Jeongseon's Jeungsan Elementary School, where many students commute long distances by bus, all 19 students will receive breakfast.

For children, breakfast is not just a meal to fill their stomachs, but a necessary meal to grow healthily and start their day.

Meals will be prepared by local small business owners and delivered to the schools, where students will eat before their classes begin. The Woori Future Foundation stated its intention to monitor the program's progress and gather feedback from schools and local partners to ensure sustained support. The foundation also highlighted its commitment to future social contribution projects, including surgical cost support for low-income children with hearing impairments and assistance for young adults transitioning from foster care.
