Worker Dies After Falling Into Elevator Shaft in 12-Story Construction Site

A tragic accident in Karaman, Turkey, has resulted in the death of a 39-year-old construction worker who fell into an elevator shaft. The incident took place at a 12-story apartment building currently under construction in the Hamidiye neighborhood.

The worker, identified as Mesut Yıldız, was reportedly working on the top floor of the building when he lost his balance and fell into the elevator shaft. Other workers on site noticed the fall and immediately alerted emergency services.

Health teams, firefighters, police, and AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency) personnel were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, medical personnel confirmed that Yıldız had died at the scene due to his injuries.

Family members of Yıldız arrived at the location upon hearing the news and were overcome with grief. Police secured the area around the building as an investigation commenced. Following an examination by the public prosecutor, Yıldız's body was transported to the Karaman Training and Research Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal fall.
