World Cup final enhanced by presence of global stars

The final of the 2026 World Cup, set to be contested between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium, is poised to become a major celebrity gathering. International artists, actors, and leaders are expected to grace the event, drawing attention beyond the football match itself.

More than 80,000 spectators are anticipated to fill the stadium, with billions worldwide tuning in. The event will feature not only the prestigious trophy competition but also a series of special performances before and during halftime. Hollywood actor Tom Cruise is scheduled for a special appearance during the pre-match ceremony, alongside British singer Robbie Williams and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, who will perform the U.S. national anthem.

Cruise's appearance follows his notable performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics closing ceremony, leading to expectations of another special performance at MetLife Stadium. The most anticipated segment, however, will be the 11-minute halftime show, a first in World Cup history, which FIFA President Gianni Infantino has called the biggest performance ever organized.

The halftime show will be headlined by Madonna, with performances also by Justin Bieber, K-pop group BTS, and Shakira, who will perform the tournament's official song, 'Dai Dai,' with Burna Boy. Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel will lead a New York choir, accompanied by Coldplay, whose frontman Chris Martin is the overall coordinator for the halftime show. The performances also carry a charitable mission, with proceeds directed to FIFA's educational initiatives in partnership with the NGO Global Citizen. U.S. President Donald Trump, rapper Post Malone, and content creator IShowSpeed are also expected to attend.
