Xavi Simons has openly discussed his departure from Barcelona's famed La Masia academy at the age of 16, citing a lack of belief from the club as the primary reason.

Simons, now a player for Tottenham, recalled a pivotal conversation that he believes shaped his career. Instead, he accepted an offer from Paris Saint-Germain to continue his development in France.

"It was clear from the beginning that they didn't believe in me," Simons stated. He explained that Barcelona officials told him, "We have other players we believe in. We want to offer you a contract, but you are not one of the players who is truly part of our project."

At the time, Simons chose to remain focused on his performance on the field rather than publicly address the situation. His move to PSG marked his senior career debut, and he has since developed into one of Europe's most highly regarded young midfielders.
