Yellow alert issued for heavy rain and possible hail in six Mexico City boroughs

Mexico City authorities have activated a yellow alert for heavy rainfall and potential hail in six of the capital's 16 boroughs. The Secretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection issued the warning for Thursday evening, anticipating an intensification of weather conditions.

The affected areas include Álvaro Obregón, Cuajimalpa, Magdalena Contreras, Milpa Alta, Tlalpan, and Xochimilco. Between 7:45 PM and 10:00 PM, these regions are expected to receive between 15 and 29 millimeters of rain.

In response to the forecast, the Secretariat has advised residents to take necessary precautions. These include carrying umbrellas or raincoats, watering plants with collected rainwater, and ensuring that drains are clear of debris to prevent blockages. The public is also urged to avoid driving through flooded areas and to exercise caution due to the possibility of fallen trees or other debris.

Motorists are particularly warned to be vigilant for remnants of trees or objects swept away by water, and to stay clear of structures like walls, trees, and power lines that may be at risk of falling. The alert aims to mitigate potential damage and ensure public safety during the anticipated adverse weather.
