Yeongju Launches 'Anbin Nakdo' Tourism Strategy to Boost Stays

Yeongju city in South Korea is aiming to transform into a destination for 'stay-type tourism' with its new 'Anbin Nakdo' strategy. This initiative seeks to extend visitor stays by blending daytime historical and cultural experiences with nighttime urban festivals.

The 'Anbin Nakdo' concept, meaning 'a city that makes guests comfortable and happy,' is central to Yeongju's tourism development. The plan involves guiding visitors through historical sites like Sosu Seowon and the Seonbi Village during the day, and then drawing them to the city center for the 'Siwon Night Festa' and other evening events.

This festival, held at the Yeongju Civic Stadium, will feature performances, interactive experiences, and local food stalls. The goal is to boost the local economy by encouraging visitors to spend more time and money in the city.

Yeongju also plans to leverage its seasonal festivals, such as the Korean Seonbi Culture Festival in spring and the Museom Wooden Bridge Festival in autumn, along with its 'Byeolbyeol Yeoyu Yeongju' brand. These efforts aim to solidify Yeongju's image as a relaxing tourist city that attracts visitors throughout the year.

"Siwon Night Festa is a gateway that leads guests who enjoyed the Anbin Nakdo area, such as Sosu Seowon, Seonbi Village, and Buseoksa Temple during the day, to the city center," said Hwang Byung-jik, director of the Yeongju Culture and Tourism Foundation. "Through a linked strategy connecting day and night, we will strive to establish ourselves as a tourist city that people want to revisit all year round."
