Yobe North Leaders Back Governorship Candidate Wali for 2027

Traditional and political leaders in Yobe North, Nigeria, have thrown their support behind Alhaji Baba Malam Wali's ambition to become the state's governor in 2027. The endorsements came during Wali's consultations with influential figures across the zone, signaling a significant boost for his candidacy within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

We have to play a vital role in the forthcoming election. We will meet aggrieved members and the opposition. People of Yobe will be proud of Zone C people.

Among those who pledged support were the Emir of Bade, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Suleiman, and the Emir of Machina, Alhaji Bashir Albishir Bukar. Former Senate President Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan also spoke on behalf of Yobe North, promising robust support and vowing to surpass previous electoral performances. Lawan urged for reconciliation among political stakeholders, calling on APC leaders to engage with aggrieved members and opposition figures to foster unity.

At the Bade Emirate, Emir Abubakar Umar Suleiman welcomed Wali, referring to him as "our own." He advised Wali to remain open to sincere counsel and avoid being isolated by political cabals if elected. The Emir stressed the importance of leadership being accountable to the people and reminded Wali that ultimate destiny belongs to God. Similarly, Emir Bashir Albishir Bukar of Machina endorsed Wali, citing his long-standing patience, loyalty, and integrity.

Responding to the endorsements, Wali expressed his gratitude and described himself as a son of the region.
