Zahari Sarip appointed new Speaker of Johor State Assembly

Datuk Zahari Sarip, the State Assemblyman for Buloh Kasap, has officially taken on the role of Speaker for the Johor State Assembly. This appointment follows the recent Johor State Election and the subsequent formation of the state government.

His installation was formalized during a swearing-in ceremony held at the Kota Iskandar state assembly hall. The nomination for his position was put forth by the Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, and was seconded by the State Assemblyman for Bukit Permai, Datuk Mohd. Jafni Md. Shukor.

Menteri Besar Ghazi highlighted Zahari's suitability for the role, emphasizing his diverse administrative and service background. Zahari's career journey includes roles as a teacher, a political aide to the Minister of Health, a member of the Dewan Negara (Senate), and as the State Assemblyman for Buloh Kasap since 2018. He also served as the Chairman of the State Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, and Rural Development Committee from 2022 to 2026.

Zahari expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by the Menteri Besar and other Johor assemblymen, calling it a great honor and responsibility. He also extended thanks to the former Speaker, Datuk Mohd. Puad Zarkashi, and former Deputy Speaker, Datuk Samsolbari Jamali.
