Zholaman Sharshenbekov wins gold at ranking wrestling tournament in Hungary

Kyrgyzstan's Zholaman Sharshenbekov has secured a gold medal at a ranking wrestling tournament held in Hungary. The athlete showcased impressive skill in the 60-kilogram weight class.

Sharshenbekov began his campaign in the round of 32, achieving three consecutive early victories to advance to the semifinals. There, he faced Alisher Ganiev of Uzbekistan, the current Asian champion, a finalist at the 2025 World Championship, and the world-ranked leader in his weight class. Sharshenbekov decisively defeated Ganiev by pinning him.

The final match was scheduled against Yernur Fidakhmetov from Kazakhstan. However, Fidakhmetov was forced to withdraw from the bout due to an injury, resulting in Sharshenbekov being awarded the gold medal by default.

This victory adds another significant achievement to Sharshenbekov's wrestling career, highlighting his dominance in the 60-kilogram category.
