2025 Annual Report: Increased energy consumption boosts Gasag's revenue

Berlin's energy provider, Gasag, has reported a strong financial performance for 2025, nearly doubling its revenue to 1.72 billion euros. This significant increase is attributed to a combination of factors, including a six percent rise in gas consumption among its customers and favorable market conditions, such as stable cost structures and rising gas prices. The company's net profit also saw a substantial jump, climbing from 58 million to 102 million euros.

Beyond the financial gains, Gasag is demonstrating a commitment to environmental sustainability. The company has outlined ambitious plans to operate its Berlin gas network in a climate-neutral manner by 2040, with a primary focus on converting the network to handle hydrogen. Last year alone, Gasag channeled 184 million euros into investments aimed at reducing CO2 emissions. A significant portion of this, 85 percent, was directed towards heat networks, climate-neutral supply solutions, network infrastructure, and the expansion of renewable energy sources.

In a move that benefits consumers, Gasag recently announced a reduction in its gas prices. Starting January 1st of this year, the basic supply price was lowered by 0.34 cents per kilowatt-hour. This adjustment is expected to save an average Berlin household with an annual consumption of around 12,000 kWh approximately 41 euros. The company also indicated potential relief in electricity prices, citing more favorable procurement costs and decreasing network fees. This dual focus on financial performance and climate action positions Gasag as a key player in Berlin's energy transition.
