24-year-old man wounded by a bullet in the leg after being attacked in Flor de Maroñas

A shooting incident in Montevideo has left a 24-year-old man injured in the leg. The attack occurred on Monday afternoon at the intersection of Felipe Cardoso and Cochabamba in the Flor de Maroñas neighborhood. The victim presented himself to the Malinas polyclinic with a gunshot wound to his right leg, which had both an entry and exit wound. Authorities confirmed that his condition is not considered life-threatening.

Adding a layer of complexity to the investigation, the injured man reportedly expressed no desire to file a formal complaint with the police regarding the incident. This reluctance could potentially hinder the authorities' efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

In a separate and more tragic event, a 39-year-old man died from a gunshot wound to the abdomen in the Chacarita de los Padres neighborhood on Sunday afternoon. He was initially transported to the Malinas polyclinic by a neighbor after being found wounded. From there, he was transferred to Pasteur Hospital due to the severity of his injury, but he succumbed to his wounds hours later.

Police investigations at the scene of the second incident yielded no immediate clues. However, initial reports suggest the attack may have been linked to a dispute over tools. Witnesses reportedly saw the victim being shot by one man accompanied by another. The Homicides Department is now handling the investigation into this fatal shooting.
