Young woman sentenced after burning partner's grandmother's house in La Coronilla

A 21-year-old woman has been sentenced to three years and two months in prison for her role in an arson attack that severely damaged her partner's grandmother's home in the La Coronilla resort.

The incident occurred in early May when a 69-year-old woman was hospitalized after her house caught fire. A neighbor rescued her after noticing smoke emanating from the property. Firefighters who responded to the scene confirmed total loss in two rooms and classified the fire as "hypothetically suspicious."

Following this lead, police investigations identified the young woman, who was dating the victim's grandson, as a potential suspect. Searches conducted in two properties in the city of Chuy yielded relevant evidence for the investigation.

The victim was discharged from the hospital on May 23. Subsequently, the 21-year-old woman was convicted as "penally responsible for a crime of serious injury, in real reiteration with a crime of arson as an author." The sentence was handed down as part of an abbreviated legal process.
