Man, 39, fatally shot in Montevideo's Chacarita de los Padres neighborhood

A 39-year-old man died from gunshot wounds in the Chacarita de los Padres neighborhood, bordering Bella Italia in Montevideo, on Sunday afternoon. The victim was found walking wounded by a local resident who transported him to a clinic, leading to police notification.

He was initially treated at the Malvinas clinic and then transferred to Pasteur Hospital due to the severity of a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Tragically, he was pronounced dead hours later. Police investigated the scene of the crime, believed to be near Génova and Nápoles streets, but found no immediate evidence or suspects.

Witnesses reportedly told Telenoche (Canal 4) that the attack might be connected to a conflict over tools allegedly possessed by the victim. The witnesses indicated that the shooting occurred on the street, perpetrated by one man accompanied by another.

The case is now being handled by the Homicides Department as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
