25-Year-Old Woman Shot in the Head on Public Street in Montevideo; Remains Hospitalized

Tragedy struck the streets of Montevideo on Friday afternoon when a 25-year-old woman was shot in the head in the Cruz de Carrasco area. The incident, which occurred at the intersection of Luis Antonio de Pereira and Camino Agazzi, has left the community shaken and the woman in critical condition at Pasteur Hospital.

According to initial police reports, the woman was in the street when she was hit by a projectile. Witnesses reported hearing several shots fired, indicating a potentially violent confrontation. She was quickly assisted by two individuals who transported her to the hospital, where medical personnel diagnosed a gunshot wound to the head. While she remains stable and has not suffered brain death, her life is still at risk.

The Montevideo Police Department has cordoned off the scene, with PADO personnel and Scientific Police conducting their investigations. Several shell casings were found at the location, suggesting the use of a firearm.
