Ageing Health Expo Opens: New Taipei Pavilion Highlights Assistive Devices for Exploring Senior Living

New Taipei City is taking center stage at the third annual Ageing Health Industry Expo, highlighting its commitment to creating an age-friendly environment for its burgeoning senior population. With over 820,000 residents aged 65 and above, the city has officially entered the "super-aged society" phase. A key attraction at the city's "Healthy Inclusion, Age-Friendly New Taipei" pavilion is the "New Taipei Assistive Devices EasyGo" system, recognized among the expo's "Top Ten Age-Friendly Technologies, Products, and Services." This initiative streamlines the application, subsidy, and service record management for assistive devices, making them more accessible to seniors. The city government has also established a dedicated Long-Term Care Department to integrate resources and support services. Currently, New Taipei boasts 208 long-term care and nursing facilities, with a high occupancy rate, leading among Taiwan's six major municipalities. The expo features three main themes: "Caring Companionship for Seniors," focusing on dementia prevention and cognitive activation; "Active Aging Together," emphasizing preventive medicine and health promotion through smart assistive devices and health measurements; and "Seniors Setting Off," which includes age-friendly travel routes and career development support. These efforts aim to ensure seniors can live safely and age healthily within their familiar communities, supported by integrated technology and local services.
