Alonso and Colapinto Eliminated in Hungarian Grand Prix Qualifying

Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso and Argentine racer Franco Colapinto saw their hopes for a strong starting position at the Hungarian Grand Prix dashed as they were eliminated in the second round of qualifying (Q2). This marks a disappointing outcome for Alonso, who had achieved a season-first by reaching Q2 with his Aston Martin car.

Colapinto, driving for Alpine, will start the race from thirteenth position. Alonso will line up three places behind him in sixteenth. The session saw Lando Norris of McLaren, the reigning world champion and last year's winner at the Hungaroring circuit, once again demonstrate his speed by setting the fastest time in Q2. He completed the 4.381-kilometer track in 1 minute, 17.456 seconds, narrowly beating Charles Leclerc of Ferrari.

The third and final qualifying round (Q3), which determines the top ten starting positions, is set to proceed with the remaining contenders. Despite the elimination, Alonso's progression to Q2 represents a small step forward in a challenging season for the two-time world champion.
