American engineer becomes world's youngest professor at 18

At just 18 years old, American engineer Nathan Thomas achieved a historic milestone, becoming the world's youngest male professor. He began teaching computer science at Miami Dade College in August 2023, with many of his students around his own age. Thomas, born in September 2004, was 18 years and 346 days old when he took the faculty position, surpassing a record held for over three centuries by Scottish mathematician Colin Maclaurin, who was appointed professor in 1717 at age 19.
