Ancelotti announces Brazil squad renewal toward 2030 World Cup upon return to Brazil

Carlo Ancelotti, the Italian coach of Brazil's national football team, has returned to Brazil and outlined his strategy for squad renewal ahead of the 2030 World Cup. Meeting with the technical commission of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Ancelotti confirmed the team will begin forming a new squad.

"We will begin to form a new team, observing and evaluating young players, but without discarding some footballers who were in the World Cup and who still have much to contribute to the national team," the coach stated, according to a CBF release. The team's future plans include upcoming call-ups, international friendlies in September and November, and preparation for the 2027 South American qualifiers and the 2028 Copa América in the United States.

The meeting also reviewed Brazil's performance in the 2026 World Cup and emphasized strengthening the integration between the senior team and youth categories. This focus extends to tournaments like the U-17 World Cup and the upcoming Olympic cycle. Ancelotti, whose contract runs until 2030, will resume scouting matches in the Brazilian Championship and Copa do Brasil to broaden the pool of players eligible for the new project.
