Anuar Ismail Appointed New Chief Executive Officer of Bintulu Port

Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd. announced the appointment of Anuar Ismail as its new Group Chief Executive Officer, effective August 17, 2026. Ismail will succeed Datuk Ruslan Abdul Ghani, who is stepping down to take on a role at another Sarawak government-linked company.

Ismail brings a wealth of experience from the oil and gas sector, notably from his extensive career at Petronas. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in the United States. During his tenure at Petronas, he held significant positions, including Head of State Relations and leading integrated hydrocarbon management.

His previous roles at Petronas also include serving as Head of Sarawak Assets and as Country Head and Chief Representative for Petronas South Sudan. This diverse background is expected to guide Bintulu Port Holdings.

Datuk Ruslan Abdul Ghani has been with Bintulu Port since September 1, 2022, initially appointed as Group CEO for six months before officially taking the position on March 1, 2023. Following an organizational restructuring, he assumed expanded responsibilities as Group President and CEO starting December 1, 2024. Ghani began his career with Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. in 1990 and retired from Petronas in July 2022 after 32 years, during which he held various senior leadership roles in upstream operations.
