A stark reminder of nature's unpredictability has gripped Poland as Arctic air sweeps in from Scandinavia, plunging temperatures well below freezing. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has sounded the alarm, issuing nationwide frost warnings that signal a significant departure from milder weather. This sudden chill, with temperatures dipping to -3°C and even -6°C at ground level in some areas, underscores the volatile conditions that can prevail even as spring attempts to take hold.

Residents across Poland woke to frosty landscapes on Monday, with Jelenia Góra recording the lowest temperature at -3.3°C early in the morning, while Ustka on the coast remained comparatively mild at 6.4°C. The IMGW's forecast indicates that while Monday might offer some sunshine in most regions, clouds and potential rain or sleet are expected in the east and center, accompanied by gusty winds. Nighttime temperatures are set to remain low, hovering between 1°C and 4°C in most of the country, with colder pockets in the northeast and near the Carpathian foothills.

Looking ahead, the forecast suggests a continuation of these chilly conditions through Tuesday and Wednesday, with further frost expected, particularly in the mornings. However, a glimmer of hope emerges with the IMGW predicting a gradual warming trend starting from Friday, May 1st. Until then, Poles are advised to brace themselves for the lingering Arctic chill, a potent reminder of the dynamic weather systems that continue to shape our climate.
