Atromitos coach Kerkez's ban reduced by EPO Appeals Committee

In a significant development for Greek football, the Appeals Committee of the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) has seen fit to reduce the harsh suspension handed down to Atromitos coach Dusan Kerkez. The Bosnian tactician, initially facing a seven-match ban for a verbal altercation and an alleged attempt at physical aggression towards a referee, will now serve a considerably shorter sentence of four matches.

This decision offers a reprieve for both Kerkez and his team, Atromitos, who are currently navigating the crucial playout stages of the league. The reduction means Kerkez will be permitted to return to the dugout for the latter part of these vital fixtures, providing much-needed stability and leadership. The team has already served two matches of the original ban, and with this appeal successful, Kerkez is set to make his comeback for the match against Kifisia on May 12.

The EPO's Appeals Committee, in its ruling, acknowledged the appeal and modified the decision of the Super League's Disciplinary Body. While Kerkez is cleared of one specific charge, the imposition of a fine alongside the reduced ban underscores the seriousness with which such incidents are viewed within the sport. Δέχεται τυπικά και ουσιαστικά την έφεση του προπονητή του Ατρομήτου Dusan Kerkez. Μεταρρυθμίζει την υπ’ αριθμ 121/2026 απόφαση του Πρωτοβάθμιου Μονομελούς Πειθαρχικού Οργάνου της Super League. Επιβάλλει στον εκκαλούντα την πειθαρχική ποινή του αποκλεισμού των τεσσάρων (4) αγωνιστικών ημερών και χρηματική ποινή διακοσίων πενήντα (250) ευρώ, για την πειθαρχική παράβαση του άρθρου 10 παρ. 1 δ του Πειθαρχικού Κώδικα της ΕΠΟ.
