Bali DPRD Confirms Special Committee on Spatial Planning to Continue Despite Golkar Member Withdrawal

The Bali Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) is pressing forward with its special committee on spatial planning, assets, and permits (Pansus TRAP), even after the Golkar faction withdrew two of its members. DPRD Chairman Dewa Made Mahayadnya affirmed that the committee's work will continue to address seven outstanding cases of alleged violations until the October 6, 2026 deadline.

Golkar's decision to withdraw its members stemmed from a belief that the committee should be reformed rather than continued as is, and that its activities should align with its original decree. The Pansus TRAP was established to investigate alleged violations of spatial planning, permits, and asset management in Bali, a task that has gained significant public attention as more residents report issues.

This does not disrupt the committee's work, as there is an agreement that seven cases remain, and we will resolve them by October 6, 2026.

Mahayadnya emphasized that the committee's continuation is crucial for resolving the seven ongoing cases and for providing a platform for the public to voice their concerns. He noted that no formal withdrawal letter has been received from Golkar and expressed a desire for dialogue with the faction's leadership to find a mutually agreeable solution. He views the internal dynamics as a sign of a healthy and active legislative body, where differing interpretations of regulations are normal.

The Deputy Governor of Bali, I Nyoman Giri Prasta, also weighed in, expressing confidence that the Pansus TRAP will continue its work effectively to combat spatial planning violations, acknowledging that its operations are ultimately a decision for the DPRD.
