Bangka Tengah Plans Rain Prayer Amid Prolonged Drought

The Bangka Tengah Regency government in Bangka Belitung Province is preparing to hold a communal prayer and the Istisqa prayer, a specific supplication for rain, to combat a prolonged drought. The dry spell, which has persisted for over two months, has led to widespread dryness and heightened concerns about forest and land fires across the region.

Efrianda, the Deputy Regent of Bangka Tengah, stated on Monday that the local government is implementing various measures to manage the effects of the extended dry season. He emphasized that while physical and practical efforts are being maximized, spiritual endeavors are also crucial.

"If all efforts have been made, then we extend our hands in prayer to Allah SWT through a prayer for rain, simultaneously with the regional government and the community," Efrianda explained. He added that the plan for the Istisqa prayer would be discussed further with Regent Algafry Rahman. "Insyaallah, we will schedule it after all efforts have been made," he said, underscoring that human efforts are complemented by divine will.

The government continues to implement measures to anticipate the impacts of the drought, particularly concerning water scarcity and the increased potential for land fires during the dry weather. This spiritual initiative reflects a comprehensive approach, combining practical solutions with faith-based actions to address the environmental challenges.
