Bangladesh border guards stop India from pushing four people, including child, across border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) reported thwarting an attempt by India's Border Security Force (BSF) to push four people, including a woman and a child, across the border into Bangladesh. The incident took place on Saturday near the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah.

According to a press release from the BGB-58 Maheshpur Battalion, personnel from the BSF-194 Battalion tried to force the group into Bangladesh through a gate near Border Pillar No 61/12-R in Chapatala around 1:10 PM. Members of the BGB's Kusumpur Border Outpost intervened and successfully stopped the push.

Assistant Director Munsi Imdadur Rahman, the BGB-58 focal person, stated that the four individuals are currently located inside Indian territory. They are situated approximately 150 yards from the zero line, within a dense banana plantation. The BGB has officially notified the BSF-194 Battalion about the incident and the individuals' location.

This event highlights ongoing border management challenges between Bangladesh and India. While the BGB successfully prevented the push, the individuals remain in a precarious situation near the border, awaiting further developments.
