A violent robbery in Manikganj's Purba Shanbanda area has left a gold trader, his son, and a neighbor injured. The incident occurred last night when the victims were targeted by a gang of robbers armed with iron rods.

Patit Paban Shil, 72, and his son Prabir Kumar Shil, 32, were on their way home after closing their jewelry shop in Purba Shanbanda Bazar around 9:30 pm. According to police and local accounts, three to four robbers ambushed them near Gopal Pal’s house in Palpara. When Manoranjan Pal, a 50-year-old neighbor, heard their screams and came to assist, he was also assaulted.

The robbers fled the scene after firing a blank round. Prabir reported that they were carrying approximately 60 bhori of silver, two annas of gold, and Tk 85,000 in cash at the time of the attack. His father sustained a serious head injury, while Prabir and Manoranjan also sustained injuries.

Authorities responded by rescuing the three individuals and transporting them to the 250-bed General Hospital in Manikganj. Patit Paban was admitted for treatment, while the other two were released after receiving initial medical care. Md Monir Hossain, the officer-in-charge of Manikganj Sadar Police Station, confirmed that a firearm cartridge was recovered from the crime scene. The victim's family is preparing to file a case, and police are actively working to identify and apprehend the attackers.
