Bersatu to Report Perikatan Nasional Membership Dispute to Registrar

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is preparing to file a report with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) concerning allegations that its membership within the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition has automatically lapsed. This move comes amid Bersatu's stated intention to form a new political coalition.

Bersatu's Information Chief, Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, stated that PN, which he claims is now controlled by PAS, should not be governed by the interests of any single party. Instead, he argued, it must adhere to its constitution and principles of good governance. "PAS's actions in repeatedly violating the PN Constitution and decisions of the PN Supreme Council, including denying the rights of member parties, must be reported to the ROS to stop these actions immediately," Tun Faisal asserted.

He further criticized the current PN chairman, implying the position is a figurehead controlled by PAS's power center in Rusila, allowing the PAS President to arbitrarily question and violate PN Supreme Council decisions. Tun Faisal stressed that PN should operate according to its own constitution, ensuring fairness and integrity, and not be managed like PAS.

This development follows PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang's claim that Bersatu's membership in PN automatically ceased when its President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, announced the intention to form a new political coalition. Hadi cited the PN Constitution, which stipulates that a member party's affiliation ends upon joining another coalition. However, Bersatu maintains that its position within PN is unchanged, as no decision has been made to join any other political coalition, including Ikatan Prihatin Rakyat (IPR).
