Malaysian Youth Leader: Friendship Should Be Based on Respect, Not Religious Judgment

Ahmad Nazrin Abdul Aziz, the Chief of Arau UMNO Youth, has called for friendships and cooperation to be built on mutual respect, cautioning against labeling others as less devout in their practice of Islam. He stressed that while the party wing is open to collaborating with any group for the benefit of the people, such partnerships must be founded on genuine respect.

"If we are friends, let it be based on respect. Let's not pretend we are a party that champions Islam while labeling others as less Islamic than us," Nazrin stated during the opening of the Arau UMNO Youth Division Delegates Meeting. The event was officially opened by the Arau UMNO Division Chief, Datuk Rozabil Abd. Rahman.

Nazrin also commented on the recent significant victories of UMNO and Barisan Nasional in the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections. He interpreted these wins as a clear signal from the public that they are seeking stability and mature governance, rather than mere promises. He believes the electorate is increasingly recognizing the necessity of stable leadership for their well-being.

Looking ahead to the 16th General Election (GE16), Nazrin expressed optimism about the momentum to regain control of Perlis state but urged for intensified efforts from all party members. He pointed to the electoral successes in Johor and Negeri Sembilan as evidence that voters are closely observing and appreciating leaders who are consistently present, not just during election seasons.
