BGU student initiates website that connects protected space owners with unprotected neighbors

In Israel, where the reality of living under the constant threat of missile attacks is a harsh fact of life for many, innovation born from necessity is not uncommon. Tamir Cohen, a student at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, has embodied this spirit with his creation, "Angels of the Shelter."

The Angels of the Trail are people who opened their homes and hearts to me without any desire for compensation and deepened my sense of mutual responsibility.

This initiative directly addresses the vulnerability of Israelis who do not have access to protected spaces, a significant portion of the population. Cohen's website acts as a vital intermediary, fostering a sense of community and mutual aid by connecting those with safe rooms to those in need. The pre-arranged nature of the accommodation ensures a more organized and less stressful experience during emergencies.
