A leisurely tour to the Mẹ Đông Hải spiritual site in Cà Mau province took a sudden, alarming turn yesterday when a tourist boat carrying more than ten passengers capsized. The incident, which occurred around 11:30 AM on May 2nd, happened as the vessel, a local 'vỏ lãi' or long-tail boat, was navigating the waterway leading to the popular destination. Fortunately, the quick actions of the boat operator and local residents ensured that all passengers were brought to safety without any reported injuries.

According to a local official from Hưng Hội commune, the boat became entangled with a submerged tree root, leading to the capsizing. The official emphasized that the boat was not in collision with any other vessels and that the presence of life vests on board contributed to the lack of casualties. The passengers had reportedly hired the boat for a round trip, and the incident is being treated as an unfortunate accident caused by an unforeseen obstacle in the river.
