BPBD distributes 1.48 million liters of clean water to residents on Merapi slopes

Residents on the slopes of Mount Merapi in Klaten, Central Java, are facing significant challenges due to the dry season, with thousands of families relying on clean water distributions from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).

Between June 15 and July 19, 2026, the BPBD Kabupaten Klaten supplied 1,485,000 liters of clean water. This vital aid reached 3,272 families, totaling approximately 10,708 individuals, across four affected villages: Tegalmulyo, Tlogowatu, Sidorejo, and Kendalsari. The agency's rapid response team has been actively involved in the distribution process.

The supplied water is essential for the daily needs of the communities, particularly as natural water sources diminish during the prolonged dry period. The BPBD's efforts aim to mitigate the impact of water scarcity on the local population living in the Mount Merapi region.

The distribution includes filling water tanks and assisting residents in filling their containers, ensuring that the essential resource reaches those most in need. This ongoing support underscores the critical role of disaster management agencies in providing relief during environmental challenges.
