Chris Brown pleads guilty to nightclub affray over bottle attack

Singer Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to affray in connection with a London nightclub attack. The charge states that Brown and another individual, Omololu Akinlolu, used or threatened unlawful violence, causing fear for personal safety.

Chris Brown and Omololu Akinlolu on February 19 2023 used or threatened unlawful violence towards another and their conduct taken together was such as would cause a person of reasonable firmness present at the scene to fear for his personal safety.

Claire Campbell, a senior prosecutor with the Crown Prosecution Service, described the incident as a "vicious and unprovoked attack" where Brown used a glass bottle as a weapon, striking the victim twice. Akinlolu also punched the victim. Campbell emphasized the Crown Prosecution Service's commitment to pursuing such cases, stating, "no one is above the law."

Brown had left the UK after the brawl but was arrested in May 2025 at a Manchester hotel. He had been released on bail totaling 5 million pounds ($6.7 million), which permitted him to tour Europe and North America. He was again granted bail on Friday and is scheduled for sentencing on October 26. The affray charge carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison. As he left court, Brown, dressed in a tan suit and baseball cap, signed autographs for fans.
