MMPRI brings services to Solevu

Solevū Village, Fiji – The Mamanuca Marine Protection and Rescue Initiative (MMPRI) Taskforce recently concluded a three-day community outreach program in Solevu Village. This initiative successfully merged maritime enforcement activities with the provision of vital government services, aiming to bolster safety awareness and improve service accessibility within the region's maritime areas.

The program brought together key partners, including the Fiji Police Force, various government agencies, and community stakeholders. A significant focus was placed on engaging with local schools and communities through targeted awareness programs. These sessions covered critical topics such as online safety, responsible digital behavior, and available social support services, with the Online Safety Commission and the Department of Social Welfare leading the educational efforts for students, teachers, and residents.

The MMPRI Taskforce reported that this hybrid model, integrating law enforcement, government services, and direct community engagement, is proving highly effective in fostering stronger relationships with local populations. The initiative's overarching goal is to enhance public safety while ensuring that remote maritime communities receive better access to essential government assistance. Business stakeholders in Malolo and the broader Mamanuca region have also provided positive feedback, with authorities encouraged by the increasing support for these efforts.
