Cold Front Brings Chilly Weekend to Paraguay

The Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a cold weather alert for Paraguay, predicting a significant drop in temperatures across the nation this Saturday. Residents can expect a cool to cold day, with persistent southern winds and predominantly cloudy skies as a cold front makes its way through the country. This weather pattern is expected to continue through the weekend, with maximum temperatures struggling to reach 16°C and minimums dipping as low as 5°C in some southern areas.

The southern regions of the Oriental plain will bear the brunt of the cold, with cities like Pilar, Encarnación, and San Juan Bautista bracing for early morning lows of around 8-9°C. Other localities, including Villarrica, Caazapá, Paraguarí, and Pedro Juan Caballero, will see temperatures around 10°C, while the capital, Asunción, will experience minimums of approximately 11°C.

While the north and east may see scattered showers and occasional thunderstorms, conditions are expected to improve. The forecast for Sunday suggests an intensification of the cold, with extended outlooks indicating a continued chilly trend. This is a typical late autumn/early winter pattern for Paraguay, and citizens are advised to prepare for the drop in temperatures.
